Here are just a few of the winning entries for the 2009-10 Reflections Art Contest in West Contra Costa USD and John Swett USD. Thanks to Christina Slamon, VP Programs for the Bayside Council of PTAs, for coordinating Reflections for Bayside Council schools and passing on these photographs.

Oct. 7 Was Walk to School Day

Every year there is an International Walk to School Day. This year the day was October 7th. The following Bayside Council PTAs are known to have supported this event this year:

Fairmont
Harding
Kensington
Portola

The refresher station provided apple slices and grapes.

The reward station provided certificates, pencils, and stickers.

First General Meeting for 2009-10 Year

The Bayside Council of PTAs had a great start to the year with a well-attended first general meeting on September 28th at the Alvarado Adult School Campus. There was a business meeting followed by two concurrent workshop groups.

In this part of the business meeting, we went over the Council budget.

One workshop, conducted by Cathy Garza, was about “presidenting” and general unit issues.

The other workshop, conducted by Janet Abelson, was for financial matters.
